Biography

Dr Alistair Brown qualified from Oxford University Medical School in 2013 where he also received a BA in Medical Sciences.

Alistair then moved to the South West where he worked for eight years completing his specialty training in Dermatology in 2021.  During this time he was awarded the highly prestigious UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network (UKDCTN) SpR fellowship award.  This has led to a deep appreciation of evidence based dermatology and involvement with clinical trials at a national level.  Alistair was part of the recent priority setting partnership for skin cancer surgery, an important piece of work to identify the top ten research priorities in this field.

Alistair has published his research widely and has presented his work at national and international conferences.

In 2021 Alistair moved to New Zealand to complete an internationally acclaimed ACMS fellowship in Mohs surgery and cutaneous oncology.  Under the mentorship of Dr Paul Salmon and Dr Neil Mortimer, Alistair mastered the exacting and meticulous methodology required to achieve an excellent cosmetic outcome following skin cancer surgery.

In 2023 Alistair returned to Exeter to take up a consultant dermatologist post at the Royal Devon NHS Foundation Trust working in Exeter and North Devon.

Outside of work Alistair enjoys spending time with his family enjoying the beautiful beaches around Exeter.  He can also be found early in the morning cycling his bike before the rest of the family are awake.
